The Mark of Athena Chapter III

Percy,

Something was defiantly wrong here, after our meeting with the Romans we decided not to attack the Greek flying ship, but here we are in a fully pledged war against that very flying ship. Reyna looked just as confused with the fight but was too shocked to do anything. Considering that I bet my life on the line that everything will go ok, I'd better sort things out and quick.

Luckily a message just came out of the ship's speaker which caused some sort of confusion amongst the soldiers attacking Percy's friends. The voice on the other end was sweet and musical and was most defiantly irresistible, almost no one could help but listening to it. It said, "We Greeks come in peace and do not want to harm you and don't want a war, so please put down your weapons and stop attacking."

The words washed over Percy like a tidal wave and soaked him right to the bone, he felt obliged to listen to that voice and would pretty much do anything it said, even if it told him to punch himself in the gut, thankfully it didn't. Percy felt himself drop his hands to the floor even though he was not holding a weapon, and as he looked around he saw that the entire city was following suit.

There were no more attacks to or from the Argo II but it looked damaged in the hull and was now falling out of the sky at breakneck speed. Percy had to do something before it crashed, but without any weapon that could help, he was left dumbstruck. Suddenly he had an idea, he shut his eyes and quickly raised his hands as if he were imitating Darth Vader using the force, and concentrated all his power on the small lake.

He felt a small tugging sensation in his gut, and when he opened his eyes the lake was shaping itself in the same way as his hands. Without much time left, he immediately raised his hands above his head as if he were carrying something heavy and the lake caught the Argo II mid air. The tension in the air was unbearable, as if the whole city and people aboard the ship were all holding their breaths. The speed of the Argo II was reduced rapidly thanks to Percy's quick thinking and the ship slowly sailed towards the middle of the town square where the citizens and army had gathered to see what their new visitors had to say.

A hushed silence fell over the city and a large white flag emerged from the top of the ship's flag pole. Then a stairway ramp lowered from the end of the boat and a shadowy figure appeared to be walking forward. Suddenly the army appeared to have regained consciousness as if they were previously in a trace. Percy couldn't imagine what would happen if this person was attacked so he immediately shouted, "Lower your weapons", the army did as they were told but the shadowy figure also seemed to stop moving, it must have thought Percy was talking to it.

The shadow became clearer as it moved closer towards the crowd of Romans and Percy recognised that the person matched the description of somebody Camp Jupiter has been talking about for a long time. The short cut blonde hair, the small cut on his lip and the sharp electric blue eyes. This was Jason Grace, the camper who went missing around the same time as Percy.

A pang of guilt flowed through Percy as he realised that Jason was still wearing his old praetor cloak, as Percy had taken over his job, but that issue was set aside quickly as Percy felt as if he were needed to liaise between the two parties. Instinctively he stepped forward to greet Jason with his hand held out, Jason shook it but has a strange look crossed between curious and angry.

Percy opened his mouth to speak but Jason got there first, "Hello, you must be Percy, My name is Jason Grace." He didn't say much but you could tell he was trying to hold back on something, probably to ask for his job back, which in Percy's mind would have been a fair deal since he didn't really want the job anyway, but this issue would be resolved later. Right now Percy could feel something else about Jason, he had a very strong aura, basically radiating power as if challenging anyone to pick a fight with him. He also had the feeling that they would fight amongst each other for the right to lead the group as they both seemed to cut the part, but there could only be one leader, right? Apart from this Percy really didn't want to get in any fights as he thought Jason and him had a good possibility of becoming friends, and also because the other child of Zeus, Thilia, was not someone you wanted to mess with, but Percy would have his own tricks to pull if ever in the situation.

Thinking about all of this made Percy's brain hurt and he also realised that he was staring into space for quite a while; Jason's grunt brought him back to earth. "Hello, Jason, yes my name is Percy" he replied, "It seems we had a little switch of Camps, and we must act quickly together to bring a truce upon the two camps in order to battle Gaea."

"Wow nice work, you've only just met the guy and your talking business" thought Percy, he decided to try again, "Um, how's about we introduce each other's camps eh?" "Yo Romans, I'd like you to give a big welcome back to our little friend here, Jason."

"Hmm, since when do I say yo?"

Immediately there was a massive uproar from the crowds of people and they began to chant Jason's name repeatedly. Thankfully the pressure had been finally lifted but it was replaced with loud screeches and screams, he raised a hand to silence them and continued with his speech, "As you can see Jason if perfectly unharmed, which is proof of the acceptance of the Greeks." "Right Jason" whispered Percy to Jason who then nodded.

"The Greeks took me in even after they realised my identity as a Roman, but noted me for myself rather than where I came from, so why don't we show the same hospitality towards them by welcoming them to our camp?"

"That is completely absurd," shouted a high pitched voice coming from behind the crowd. The voice belonged to Octavian; who looked like his hair was on fire, that was probably because it was on fire. Short flames and a cloud of smoke were being released from his head, his clothes were also smoking and his face was ruby red with anger. "Are you all blind, did you not see the shower of arrows and their attacks towards our great city, can you not see that they are trying to destroy us, and when they raise a white flag you think it's all okay again?"

The pieces were slowly fitting together in Percy's head. Octavian was smoking and still on fire, he looked like he had just been in a war, he was furious and wanted everyone to start attacking the Greeks. He was the person who started attacks on the Greek flying ship; he gave the command centre false information so there would be a war.

"Wow"Percy thought, with all this thinking there may well have been a small cloud of smoke coming from Percy's head as well. He also felt proud of coming to such a conclusion without the help of Annabeth. Annabeth. Just thinking about her made Percy feel sad, how he longed to see her. Hopefully he would be meeting her very soon. Now his main priority was trying to remain calm before he literally pulverised Octavian into a pulp, how dare he try to start a war between the Greeks and Romans. Although acting now could initiate a war, so instead Percy said, "Go have a picnic with you teddy bears Octavian."

There were quite a few giggles from the crowd but Octavian didn't push his luck with Percy's patience, he turned on his heel and fled the slightly confused crowd, looking more furious than before. "He won't be coming back anytime soon" Percy thought.

Percy and Jason both turned to look at Reyna simultaneously for her verdict on attacking the Greeks. Thankfully she was willing to give them a chance and announced, "So far the Greeks have only acted in defence for themselves after a, uh.... false message to attack was passed on, which is why we have decided to allow the Greeks to prove their honesty. Although, I shall warn you all, that any trouble caused by the Greeks or towards them will not be tolerated." She then whispered to Percy, "I hope you know what you're doing Percy. And it's good to have you back Jason" She then went over to Jason and gave him a firm hug, at first Jason was slightly shocked but then he hugged her back and whispered something to her which made her smile and kiss him on the cheek. She then walked away, looking very happy as if in some kind of trance. Jason was left dumbstruck and staring at the spot where Reyna just left.

Percy decided it would be a good time to act as everyone was either in a good mood or confused, so they wouldn't really be startled by a few Greeks coming into their city. "Thank you Romans for accepting the Greeks" he shouted, snapping Jason out of his trance, "They will come in peace and I hope you will treat them just as if they were Romans." Percy thought about that for a second and really hoped that they didn't actually treat each other by fighting and being idiots.

After that Jason called for the Greeks to come out and said it was okay. Percy didn't really know how many Greeks they had bought along with them or how many could fit on the flying boat, but whatever he was thinking, it was a lot more than that. The first two people to leave the ship after Jason were two new campers he thought, one of them was Leo Valdes, the 'supreme commander of the Argo II', but the other Percy had never seen before. She had dark skin; chocolate brown with thin strands braided on either side of her hair and eyes that change colour like a kaleidoscope, going from brown to blue to green. She was, in Percy's opinion very pretty, although she made it clear that she didn't care about her appearance because she was simply wearing jeans with an orange camp half-blood t-shirt , wore no makeup and her hair that was cut choppy and uneven.

These must have been Jason's friends as they walked straight up to him and started talking quickly and quietly about something secret. After that, the other Greeks just started pouring out of the ship. Percy saw glimpses of some of his friends, Thalia and some of her hunters, Grover, Butch and Travis and Connor Stoll. Then, all of a sudden, everything seemed to become insignificant, he didn't even notice some of his friends talking to him or patting him on the back, because someone who he had been waiting a very long time just got off the ship.

She had curly golden blonde hair, storm grey eyes, a natural tan like a typical California girl and was tall and athletic looking. Overall she was the definition of beautiful. She seemed to not notice all the boys in the crowd gawking at her, because she was focused on one person alone, Percy. Percy also couldn't help staring helplessly at her beauty as she took slow steps towards him; it seemed as if in the last eight months that she had grown even more beautiful than Percy had remembered. This of course was Annabeth, daughter of Athena and his girlfriend.

When she was face to face with Percy her smile faded slightly and her expression stiffened. She took a deep breath and then spoke in a barely audibly whisper, "Um Percy, do you remember me?"

Percy's face grew a wide grin and he said, "How could I forget the most beautiful girl in the world, I never forgot you Annabeth."

Annabeth seemed to go through a lot of emotions at one time, it started with worried, then confused, relief, annoyed and ended with anger. At first Percy thought she was going to kiss him, but Annabeth being Annabeth, she slapped him on the cheek, and then pulled him in for a hug.

"Yeah I missed you too Wise girl" Percy said, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"You're such a seaweed brain, do you realise how worried I have been?" Annabeth replied, tears were welling up in her eyes but she tucked her head into Percy's chest.

"Well I didn't exactly ask Hera to wipe my memory and send me here," said Percy pulling Annabeth's head up to meet his eyes. "I love you and I will never leave you again."

Annabeth leaned in and gave Percy a passionate kiss. The world started spinning and Percy couldn't tell which way was up or down. He hardly noticed some of their friends making fake coughs or making gurgling sounds, but he didn't care, he just wanted this moment to last forever.

What do you think of my latest Chapter, the Percabeth Reunion? Not great? Or great? There may have been too much fluff but I don't think I will be doing much of that again, it will be Action from here on out, but of course if you want fluff? Also give me some ideas of what to do in the next chapter, 'cause I'm kinda stumped. Please comment and give your feedback on anything, it means a lot to me, thanks :)
Percy saves the Argo II from crashing and Percy and Annabeth reunite :)
